The Netherlands Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Bert Ronhaar, has identified access to market as the major bottleneck of farmers in the country.
Speaking with newsmen at Osubi Airstrip shortly after he was received by the General Overseer of the Flock of Christ Mission, Bishop
Simeon Okah, Ronhaar said his visit was aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations between The Netherlands and Nigeria, stressing the readiness of the Dutch government to partner with Delta State Government in the promotion of cassava production and giving farmers better access to market.
He also said that the visit was to promote public private partnership in agricultural production.
According to Ronhaar, the Dutch government would support the Nigerian government’s desire to implement policies that would ensure increase in agricultural production and food processing.
He said: “The Netherlands as the number two country in the world in the area of food production has a long history of hard work on how to succeed in agricultural production.”
