Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State and his Deputy, Mallam Bala Ngillari were sworn-in Wednesday amid pomp and ceremony.
The oath of office was administered by the State Acting Chief Judge, Mr. Justice Barthmaus Lawi held at the Mahmud Ribadu Square in the state capital, Yola.
Rear Admiral Murtala Nyako was re-elected Adamawa Governor in last Saturday’s election following his removal alongside with four other Governors by the Supreme Court of Nigeria after affirming that their tenure elapsed in May 2011.
Speaking after taking the oath of office, Governor Murtala Nyako observed that no democracy thrives without the opposition and called on his opponents during the election to team up with him towards building a better state.
He commended candidates of the other political parties for their maturity during their electioneering campaigns, which he said were devoid of acrimony, crisis and other vices that were the hallmark of past elections.
Admiral Murtala Nyako assured the people of the state that he will not let them down and solicited for their maximum support and co-operation towards moving the state to the next level.
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State, members of the National Assembly, former governors of the state, traditional rulers, among others witnessed the ceremony.
