The legendary founder of Soul Train Don Cornelius has been buried at a private service in Los Angeles. The burial took place on Friday, February 1o, 2012.
The service was attended by friends and family including Reverend Jesse Jackson who led the prayers before his body was cremated.
A larger private memorial service is however planned for this week.
‘The Rev. Jackson and my father were very, very close friends and I wouldn’t have had it any other way’, wrote Cornelius’s son Tony in a statement.
At the Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 12, The Roots drummer Questlove and the night’s host LL Cool J paid homage to the late Soul Train pioneer.
Don Cornelius, 75, was found dead at his Mulholland Drive home at around 9AM according to the shooting report made by the Police. He apparently shot himself.
