Two Imoke supporters die in fatal auto crash

No fewer than two supporters of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the February 25, governorship election in Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, weekend, died in a motor accident on their way to the party’s campaign rally in Obubra Local Government Area of the state.

Imoke, last week embarked on campaign in the council to solicit the votes of the electorate in the forthcoming election.

The bus conveying about 10 of his supporters made up of members of the legacy group, a political support group working for Imoke’s return for a second term heading for a campaign rally at Obubra, was involved in an accident, which claimed two lives.

The bus which reportedly took off from Ochon community on the Ikom-Calabar Highway for the Obubra Township Stadium venue of the rally was said to be on top speed and while trying to avoid a pothole, ran into the bush, killing some of the passengers.

One of the victims, who died on the spot worked with the task force on illegal logging of wood, while the second victim died in Calabar from injuries he sustained in the accident.
