The State Security Service, SSS has dismissed two of its officials who it
described as auxiliary staff over their alleged as their involvement in “illegal
operation”.
The Service, in a statement signed by Marilyn Ogar, Deputy Director,
identified the two dismissed officials as Owolabi Kolade and Okunola Kayode.
The SSS spokesperson said the two dismissed officials have been handed over
to the police for further investigation.
The two former SSS operatives were recently remanded in prison custody after
they were arraigned on a two count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery before
an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court.
They were accused of conspiring with others, now at large to rob a car
dealer, identified as Peter Charles Denis of the sum of N480, 000 on June 14,
2012 on Owo/Ado Road, Akure.
But while pleading not guilty to the charges, Kolawole, had told the court
that it was the complainant that gave the operatives the sum of N100,000 to stop
him from being arrested.
The Court however refused bail application by the accused counsel, ordering
that they should be remanded in prison.
The case was adjourned till 20 July for further hearing.
Ogar said the two operatives have been dismissed after preliminary
investigations in line with the Service terms and conditions
