The Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) Itori Unit, Mr Fatai Bakare, told our correspondent that the accident involved a Mazda bus with registration number, Lagos BU 339 EPE.
According to him, the accident which occurred at about 12.05 p.m. was caused by over speeding by the driver of the vehicle.

“The passenger bus was on a very high speed when the tyre burst and the bus somersaulted thrice. The victims, though on a danger list, are still alive and have been rushed to Ifo General Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

The corpse of the person who died has been deposited at the mortuary of the hospital.
Bakare warned motorists not to buy used tyres as they are not suitable for Nigerian roads in the rainy season.

“Used tyres are very bad for this nation and using it in the rainy season makes it so bad because the threads there are worn out. That makes it difficult for the tyres to grip the ground firmly when you apply brake. So,help educate people to stop buying used tryes,” he said.
