A female banker with a new generation bank in Lagos, Wunmi Oyediran and two other
suspects, Adewale Ogunbiyi and Richard Imoh, have been arrested for their
alleged involvement in robbing a bank customer of $75,000.
The three men were arrested by men of the Lagos State Command of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, and were paraded at the Lagos Police Command, Headquarters today.
Police sources claimed that on 17 July, 2012, a bank customer was dispossessed of $75,000 at Marina, Lagos Island and men of SARS later arrested Adewale and Richard in connection with the robbery. The two suspects in their confessional statements to the police allegedly confessed to the crime and other criminal activities. They allegedly mentioned Wunmi and two other suspects now at large as their accomplices.
On 26 July, 2012, men of SARS went to the Alausa branch of the new generation bank where Adewale and Richard identified Wunmi as their informant.
She was arrested after interrogation. In a separate incident, two other suspects, Ernest Eze, 22, and Charles Iweka, 27, were also paraded after their arrest for alleged conspiracy and robbery.
We learnt that they were picked up at about 3.30 pm on 27 July, 2012 at Iddo Motor Park in Lagos after people had contacted SARS boss, SP Abba Kyari who despatched his men to the motor park immediately.
Ernest and Charles were arrested with an Opel Safira space wagon marked SKJ 676 AP said to have been snatched at gun point in Ondo State.
On interrogation by SARS men, the two allegedly confessed to being robbers who operate on Lagos/Ijebu-Ode/Ondo expressway.
Further investigation by SARS revealed that the driver of the vehicle was still receiving treatment at undisclosed hospital as a result of the injuries he sustained when he was shot and the Opel Safira was snatched from him.
According to police sources, the suspects will soon be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation into their cases.
