Lagos NeighbourHood Watch Arrest 4 Armed Robbers

Lagos Neighbourhood Watch Officials  have arrested four suspected robbers at Ajangbadi, Oto-Awori area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

The robbers were said to specialise in using vehicle jacks as handguns to rob their victims. They were paraded at the State Government Secretariat on Wednesday and  handed over to the Rapid Response Squad, RRS.

The suspects are Jude Ogor, Charles Nwozuzu, Ifeanyi Onwukwe and Akonye Chidozie. The suspects were handed over to the police along with a mini Nissan Sunny car with registration number BK 121 FKJ, which they used in carting away stolen goods.
Mr. Oguns Musbau, who led the operation said the suspects were arrested around 2 a.m. at a mechanic workshop while loading stolen goods into their vehicle.

“For about two years, the people of Oto-Awori have been sleeping with their two eyes open. They can`t just rest or sleep because these criminals keep attacking residents every now and then.
“We are glad that our collaboration with the police to displace criminals from the area is yielding results. We are glad with this arrest. This is a big plus for our campaign,” he stated.
According to him, his men mobilised to the robbery scene after the outfit had received distress calls from residents whose homes were visited by the robbers.

“We heard people shouting for help and we responded immediately. When we got there, we saw them in action and laid ambush for them.
“We saw them removing parts from residents’ vehicles and watched them carefully moving from houses to houses wielding iron bars as guns and robbing people of their money and other belongings.
“Our team made one calculated, determined swoop on them and in the process dispossessed them of their weapons and arrested them. It was a very successful operation and we thank God for that,” he added.
The suspects admitted their involvement in the robbery which they started two months ago, saying it was the handiwork of the devil.

One of them, Ifeanyi Onwukwe, said he and his accomplices sold spare parts at Ladipo market, adding that they took to robbery because of financial challenges.
