Lokoja-Abuja Road Accident: Governor Wada Turns Emergency Rescue Officer

Governor Idris Wada of Kogi on Sunday turned to emergency officer when he joined the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to rescue victims of a multiple accident on Lokoja-Abuja Road.

Wada, who was returning from an official engagement in Abuja, ordered his convoy to stop at the accident spot in Koton-Karfe, near Lokoja and joined the rescue operation with members of his convoy and other sympathisers before the arrival of the FRSC rescue team.

The governor supervised the evacuation of the 12 injured passengers, who were taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja, promised to pay the medical bills of all the victims.
Mr Ison Allah, the FRSC Assistant Corps Commander in charge of Koton-Karfe Unit, confirmed the accident.

Allah said that the three passenger vehicles involved in the accident were; Toyota bus with registration number XA 851 RYM, Hyundai bus with registration number KRD 14 XH and J5 bus with registration number XF 749 KTN.
He said that four children, two males and two females were among the 12 injured victims. He blamed the accident on over speeding, explaining that the vehicles hit each other from the back. (NAN)
