OP MESA Men Kill Tricyle Rider

Some armed men suspected to be members of Airforce OP Mesa, have killed a Keke Marwa rider and injured another at Abule Egba, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

We learnt that the OP MESA men in their vehicle marked 039 were escorting a commuter bus popularly called danfo marked DGR 25 XA from Sango area of Ogun State to Lagos State when the commuter bus had a brush with a Toyota Camry driven by Chief Gataru Arowolo, the Akogun of Ibogunland, Ogun State.
According to a source, Chief Arowolo was not happy as the bus driver did not apologise for brushing his car and he challenged the driver.

During the exchange of words, the OP MESA men who were behind the bus, alighted and were trying to manhandled the chief for daring to challenge the driver of the bus.
Youths who witnessed the situation intervened by informing the men of OP MESA  that it was wrong for the driver (commuter bus) to have brushed someone’s car without an apology.
The stand of the youths angered the men of OP MESA and one  of them immediately cocked his gun and started shooting sporadically. In the process, Yusuf Opadijo Oluwaseun, a tricycle operator who was coming from Total Filing Station, where he had gone to buy fuel was hit by stray bullets and he died instantly, while Rilwan Animasaun, a fashion designer who alighted from a bus with a flat tyre was hit on his right leg.

It was also learnt that the OP MESA men, sensing danger opened the bus and removed six cartons of Pando Yam flour into their vehicle. The bus driver and their female occupant abandoned their bus and joined the OP MESA Vehicle and they zoomed off.
Chief Arowolo at his Owode residence, Abule Egba, he said: “The bus driver brushed my car and he did not even say sorry to me when I drew his attention to it. The OP MESA men simply came dawn from their vehicle and tried to molest me.

“Those who witnessed what transpired told them it was wrong for the bus driver to have behaved the way he did. Before we knew what was happening they had started shooting and one person was instantly killed while others were injured,” Arowolo stated.
Efforts to speak with the Airforce Public Relations Officer proved abortive as she was said to be on course at the moment.
But Army Public Relations Officers attached to 9 Mechanised Brigade, Ikeja, Lt. Osoba said he was not aware of the incident but promised to find out.

The case was reported at Oke Odo Police Station from where policemen went to take the bus to their office while the Lagos State Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operation, Mr. Tunde Sobulo visited the station to see things for himself and promised that the culprits will be brought to book.
