Irate Youths Kill 4 Robbers In Badagry

Youths numbering over 40 in Badagry area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, on Wednesday lynched four suspected robbers after the gang had seized the sales proceeds of a nearby filling station.

According to reports, the robbers armed with locally made pistols attacked a filling station at Pota by Sawmill near Ikoga in Badagry.
Eye witnesses claimed that the robbers successfully carried out their operation when they seized the day’s sales proceeds of the filling station they had attacked.

The four robbers then mounted their motorcycles with their loot, sped off. But the irate youths in the area numbering about 40 gave them a hot chase. They pursued the robbers who later fled into the bush at Mowo.
It was gathered that villagers around the Lagos-Badagry Expressway also ambushed the robbers and as they ran into the bush, they were arrested by the youths and lynched.

As the youths chased the robbers, information reached the Area ‘K’ Police Command about the robbery operation.
The Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, of the command was despatched to the area, but before they arrived, the youths had killed the four suspects. The police later recovered two locally made guns used by the robbers.

Robbery incidents have been rampant along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway recently. Last week, four armed robbery suspects were arrested at Ibiye near Agbara when they attempted to dispossess a currency dealer (names withheld) of his foreign currency.
In another attack recently, a gang of armed robbers went on the rampage at Ajara and Badagry. They robbed many traders of their sales proceeds and escaped on a motorcycle popularly known as okada.
One of the victims of the robbery, a woman trader who craved for anonymity, said all her sales proceeds were snatched at gunpoint at about 8 pm on Friday.

She called on the police to stop okada riders from operating at night because armed robbers make use of okada for their operations and escape after robbing innocent citizens of their belongings(pm).
