The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has given 30 days of grace to its
members who defected to other parties to return if they are willing to do
so.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) made this decision after a meeting at its national secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday.
PDP national Chairman, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, in a statement on Thursday said there was still room for defected members who are willing to return to the party.
Tukur in the statement said: “In keeping with the on-going efforts to promote reconciliation within the party, the NWC decided as follows:
“That the PDP umbrella is big enough to accommodate everybody and therefore calls on all those who left the party, or are not actively working with the party, for any reason(s) to return to the party through their wards.
“That this exercise (should) be carried out within 30 days from now and that ward chairmen and secretaries should register such returning members without inhibitions.”
While calling on the six zonal national vice-chairmen to guide against inanities, the party chairman said the PDP NWC was also setting up zonal reconciliation committees which would further strengthen relationship amongst its members.
