Naija's top fast-food restaurant, Tastee Fried Chicken, TFC,
was on Friday shut by the Lagos State Government for allegedly refusing to
comply with the payment of the land use charges.
The Lagos Use Charge Office of the Ministry of Finance, which locked up the gates of TFC on Opebi Road at Ikeja, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, said it was basing its actions on the provisions of sections 9, 17, 18 and 19 of the land use charge law of 2001, and section 40 of the Lagos state Revenue Administration Law.
“The consequence of such default is that the owners/occupiers shall have the property sealed and liable for distrain or receivership and/or to a term of imprisonment for a period of three months or both until all outstanding charges, penalties and administrative charges due are paid,” read the notice of default pasted on the locked gates.
