The military Joint Task Force (JTF) in Borno State has raised the alarm
over text messages being sent by Boko Haram to select individuals,
especially contractors, politicians and government officials.
In such messages, JTF claimed that the sect demands large sums of money to be used for certain purposes like building of mosques.
The task force, in a statement signed by Lieutenant-Colonel Sagir Musa, copies of which were made available to journalists, on Friday, in Maiduguri, urged members of the public to be on the alert as regards the development.
It warned that whoever succumbed to the ploy and channelled money or resources to the sect would be arrested and treated as its accomplice and financier.
JTF also requested members of the public to forward such massages to its headquarters through these lines: 08064174066, 07085464012 and 080154429346 for action to be taken.
