Retirement Villa, built at a cost of N300 million in Lekki Phase II area of
Lagos, southwest Nigeria.
Chairman, COWLSO, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola disclosed this on Monday at a news conference at the Lagos Television Combo Hall on its forthcoming national women conference, saying the retirement villa would soon be commissioned.
She said the villa had facilities such as tennis court, squash court, swimming pool, medical facilities and 12 chalets.
Mrs. Fashola added that the villa was not meant to serve as permanent home for retired civil servants but to serve as recreation and orientation centre.
COWLSO began the construction of the retirement villa in Lekki Phase II in 2010 and completed the project this year.
The COWLSO chairman disclosed that the proceeds of COWLSO’s national conference in the past five years had been used to build seven recreational centres, such as Lafiagi Community Centre, Kudirat Abiola Freedom Square and Oshodi Sports Centre, among others.
On its coming national women conference, Fashola said the conference would hold at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suits, Victoria Island between 30 October and 1 November, 2012.
Governor of Kaduna State, Ibrahim Yakowa is expected to declare the conference open while Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State will declare the conference closed.
The theme of the conference, according to Fashola, is “Women as Leaders” while topics to be discussed at the event are “Female Leadership Virtues” to be delivered by Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello and Leadership Ethics, Empowerment, to be treated by Prof. Sophie Oluwole.
“In line with our tradition, we shall unveil the recipient of this year’s Inspirational Women award to be presented by our special guest of honour at the opening ceremony,” she said.
