Jonathan Orders Release Of Nuhu Ribadu's Report On Corruption In Nigeria - President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday directed that a comprehensive report of
the Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force chaired by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu be
presented to him on Friday, November 2, 2012.
The presentation of the committee’s report will take place at the Presidential Villa by 11am on the said Friday.
The report which was published by an International News Agency, Reuters, exposed monumental corruption in the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation and has attracted widespread condemnation by Nigerians.
Presidential spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, said the President was set to receive the report on Friday.
He said the directive to Ribadu to present the report on Friday was in furtherance of the administration’s commitment towards transparency, probity, and accountability in the petroleum sector.
The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke, has come under severe criticism for describing it as a “draft” and not the final report. Analysts believe the statement means that government was on a cover-up mission. (Credit: DailyPost)
