Kidnappers Of Osun Speakers' Wife Arrested

The Ogun State Police Command has paraded three persons suspected to be abductors of Mrs Muibat Salaam, wife of the Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Honourable Nojeem Salaam.

During the parade at the command's headquarters in Eleweran on Monday, the state Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, said the arrest was made possible by his men following a tip-off  from the state vigilance services.

It will be recalled that Mrs Salaam was abducted by unknown gunmen last Tuesday and was rescued from his abductors at Alapako Oni village in Ogunmakin area of the state on Saturday, October 13.
The police boss said  his men in the Rapid Response Squad and plain clothes policemen attached to Fidiwo division acted on the tip-off  that suspected armed bandits were seen in the bush.

Okoye said,  “my men moved into the bush and engaged the bandits in a gun duel that led to the death of one of them (bandits), four were apprehended while others ran away with bullet wounds.

‘‘We were able to rescue Muibat from them. It was then that she told us that she is the wife of Osun speaker. Let the record be put straight that the police carried out the rescue operation.”
