The party says that Ondo State should not allow itself to be dragged into playing a role in scuttling the regional integration of the Southwest because of the ambition of one man who has not acquitted himself well with the governance of the state in the past four years.
In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the ACN, Joe Igbokwe, the party says that Ondo will benefit massively from the present wave of good governance that is sweeping through the ACN states. It says that Ondo, being an important part of Southwest should not afford to spoil the emerging chances of the Southwest to build a strong regional base to drive the people’s quest for progress in the turbulent Nigerian polity.
“We quite agree that Governor Mimiko is entitled to a second term in office but we believe that it should be entirely based on his performance in his first term, which has been very poor despite the massive sponsored media propaganda that is aimed at boosting his performance to help him secure a second term.
“Most importantly, we note that Mimiko and his government have constituted needless opposition to the desires of Ondo people to belong to a common developmental bloc with their fellow South Westerners at a time the zone believes strongly in the evolution of strong regions to drive the quest for progress in the turbulent Nigerian nation.
“We dare state without equivocation that the desire and dream of Mimiko for a second term is not as important as this imperative that is sweeping through other regions in Nigeria.” (pmreports)
