The Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Lagos, southwest Nigeria,
Idris Bolaji Muse Ariyoh has appealed to the commander of the Air Force base,
Oshodi, to assist in maintaining peace and security in the area.
Ariyoh who was speaking during a courtesy visit to the base, said security plays a vital role in the overall development of any community, adding that all well meaning individuals and organisation should support the efforts of the government particularly law enforcement agents in crime prevention and detection.
He call for cooperation and cordial relationship between the local government and security agents, stressing that this will no doubt help in the entrenchment of law and orderliness in the society.
The chairman stated though there is relative peace in the area, the visit was deemed necessary due to his passion for security of lives and property.
The commander of the base, Air Vice Marshal Tony Omenyi thanked the local government chairman for his visit and assured him of his cooperation and necessary support.
He urged the council boss to always give him credible information about criminals’ hideouts, stressing that it is always better to disrupt criminals activities by embarking on immediate raiding rather making arrest after the crime must have been committed.
The commander pleaded with the chairman not to drag them into issues that are not crime- related because his outfit is only meant to intervene when there is violent crime.
The chairman recently presented two utility vans to Akinpelu and Makinde police stations to facilitate their operation and enhance effectiveness of the police in the area.
He admonished the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the vehicles by improving on security of lives and property.
He appealed for more cooperation from the security agents, urging them to join his administration in curbing crimes in the area.(Source: PM)
