Governor Ibikunle Amosun Suspends Ijebu Council Officials

Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun has suspended the chairman and members of the legislature of the Ijebu East local government Council in the state.The suspension will last 3 months.

In a statement signed by thge Secretary to the State government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent today, the council will be administered during the suspension by the Head of the Local Government Aministration, HOLGA.

“During the period of suspension, the Head of the Local Government Administration (HOLGA) will administer the council pending further directives and the outcome of the inquiry into the affairs of the local government as ordered by the governor”, the statement read in part.

The suspended Chairman, Dare Ogunde,his deputy,all the eleven Councillors and all the political appointees have been directed to stay away from the council premises and affairs of government during the period of suspension.

Meanwhile, a panel of inquiry consisting of four persons has been appointed to look into the crisis rocking the local government and submit its report within 14 days.
The Committee members are Chief Wole Adesiji (Chairman), Mrs Ayoola Afolabi (member), Mr Bayo Adeyemi (member) and.Barr. James Kolawole Omotosho of the Ministry of Justice (Secretary).
Last Friday, the lawmakers of the council impeached the Leader of the House, Kehinde Quadri from Imobi 2.Because the suspended Leader of the House is a loyalist to the council boss, the latter rejected the impeachment. A fracas broke out in the council.(Source: PMnews)
