Kaduna Election Violence Victims Get N150K Each - Kaduna State government said more than
4,000 persons, whose houses were damaged in the April 2011
post-election violence in the state, would receive N150,000 each as
compensation.
The money is part of the relief package provided to the victims by the government.
The Dep. Gov., Amb. Nuhu Bajoga, announced this while inaugurating the programme in Zaria, Kaduna State, on Monday.
Bajoga, represented by Alhaji Ja’afaru Makarfi, Chairman of the Jama’atul Nasir Islam in the state, said the victims included 180 and 3,000 people in northern and southern parts of the state respectively.
“Owners of the houses verified and found to be authentic will receive a cheque of N150,000 each, while affected mosques and churches will be given N100,000 each.
“Victims from Northern Kaduna Senatorial District are to converge in Zaria, those from Southern Kaduna are to receive their money in Kafanchan and Kaduna central in Kaduna,” he said.
According to him, the state government will spend N401 million in the three senatorial districts.
Bajoga appealed to the victims to be patient as no assistance would be adequate.
The Chairman, Zaria Local Government, Alhaji Lawal Balarabe, appealed to those not captured in the list to be patient.
He called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money.
