Lokoja-Abuja Accident Killed Mother & Son On The Way To Church - Less than one month following the fatal accident involving Kogi State
Governor, Captain Idris Wada, which killed his Aide-de-Camp (ADC), Mr.
Idris Muhammed, who was an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), a
mother and her son whose identities could not be ascertained yesterday,
were crushed to death by a truck in Lokoja. The vehicle involved was
carrying some building materials to Abuja.
As gathered, the driver disappeared from the scene when he discovered that the duo were dead. The woman and her son, according to eyewitnesses, were going to church before they met their untimely death. Another death involving a man on a motorcycle occurred at the same spot. He was also crushed to death by a Volkswagen Golf car that was also heading to Abuja. Eyewitnesses disclosed that he was killed and his body could not be identified as he attempted to cross the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway.
Also, the driver of the car was said to have sped off from the scene of the accident. Recall that the convoy of the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Mommoh Lawal Jimoh, was involved in an accident about two weeks ago in which his orderly, Lamidi Akeem, a police Constable, lost his life. The late Akeem was in a Toyota Hilux, as the back-up van of the Speaker’s convoy, when a truck suddenly lost control and rammed into them. Fillers revealed that fear has gripped users of the uncompleted Abuja-Lokoja dual-carriageway as scores of lives may have been lost at the same spot. The black spot is around Felele section of the highway.
The auto crash involving Governor Wada occurred while he was returning to Lokoja from his hometown of Ayingba, where he had gone to attend the 2012 Igala summit, when the accident occurred on the Lokoja-Ajaokuta Road. The accident happened at Emi Woro village, about 12kilometres to Lokoja. The spot is between Prime Polytechnic and Salem University in Ajaokuta Local Government Area. The governor sustained fractures, and was rushed to the State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja. He has since been discharged from hospital. [Source]
