Police sources revealed that the policemen were on a routine patrol in a blue Ford Convoy vehicle with registration number BK 476 BDG at about 8 pm around Agidingbi, Ikeja, when the robbers shot them at close range.
The policemen could not respond as they were caught unawares.
The injured policemen identified as Inspector Anjorin Olutokun, Corporals Tyocase Joshua and Mudashiru Hussein are said to be receiving treatment at the Ikeja General Hospital.
At Area F Command, the bullet-riddled, blood stained vehicle the cops drove that fateful night was parked within the premises.
