Men of the Denton Police Station, Ebutte-Metta, Lagos, have killed three
robbers during a shoot out. The robbers were said to be robbing residents of No.
62 Jebba Street, off Ibadan Street, when the police got a distress call.
According to a police source, there was an emergency call to the Divisional
Police Officer, DPO, James Chu, about the robbery. The DPO, the source said,
gathered his men and raced to the area only to be attacked by the robbers.
In the ensuing gun duel, three of the hoodlums were shot dead while others
escaped. Items recovered from the robbers included laptop, handsets, a locally
made pistol and electrical appliances which were later returned to the
owners.
A member of the community (name withheld) said residents of Ebutte-Metta
especially the Ebutte-Metta West and Otto axis, which was a terror zone and a
den of robbers, can now sleep with their eyes closed due to the good job
policemen at Denton Police Station are doing.
The Chairman of the Community Development Association, CDA, Agbodemu Ishola
Musibau, commended the men and officers at Denton Police Station, saying that
the reason the people call to give them information is the people’s confidence
in them.
According to him, everybody has the DPO’s number with which they contact him
any time there is a problem in the community and this has helped to reduce
criminal activities in the area.
