The police, on Monday, arraigned one Musibau Abdullahi, 34, for defaming the Nigeria Police Force.
The police prosecutor, Mr Amby Ayuba, said Emmanuel Ahmadu was arrested on 29 September and was detained at the Garki Police Station over the stolen property he was alleged to have received.
The prosecutor that Abdullahi collected N30, 000 from Ahmadu under the pretence that he was going to settle the police, adding that the accused converted the money to his personal use, adding that the action defamed the image and character of the Nigeria Police Force.
The prosecutor also said the crime was contrary to section 392 of the Penal Code.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Emmanuel Iyana, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety who must be reasonable.
His case has been adjourned till Nov 5 for further hearing.
