Shocking Photos: In Hong Kong people live in cages

Hong Kong cage
While we’re shown beautiful and expensive high-rise buildings, what many don’t know until they visit Hong Kong is that many people are actually living in cages. In some cases as much as 18 strangers are smashed into a tiny room with just one toilet to share.

And if you think it’s cheap to live in cages then think again. A former cage-dweller Chau Kam-chuen said a cheap cage cost about $2,004(N317, 000) per year.

And according to Chau Kam-chuen, it’s extremely uncomfortable, especially if you get the top bunk: “You hit your head on the ceiling.”

Each cage contains the owner’s possession, from clothes to cooking supplies and even family heirlooms.
