Northern Governors Storm Kaduna Over Boko Haram Insurgency


The 19 Northern Nigerian Governors today converged in Kaduna, capital of the defunct Northern Nigerian region.

The Northern Governor's Forum, led by its chairman, Niger State Governor, Mua’azu Babangida Aliyu will be discussing on Boko Haram, and the endless insecurity issues ravaging the north.

Boko Haram Suicide Bombers Arrested in Zaria After Gun Battle

Nigerian Soldiers operating in Zaria arrested five persons they claimed are potential suicide bombers of the Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati wal-Jihad sect widely known as Boko Haram. The arrests were made in tertiary institutions around the city of Zaria in Kaduna State.

Soldiers Surround Hideout Of Suspected Militants In Sokoto

A combined team of soldiers and state security operatives have surrounded a house in Mabera layout in Mabera Itti within the Sokoto metropolis.


According to sources,  a house suspected to house armed militants remained under total cordon two a days after  detained Boko haram leaders claimed they targeted the Sutan of Sokoto as part of a wider plan to islamize Nigeria.


 Earlier there were reports of exchange of gunfire between the soldiers and armed occupants of the house.

A British and an Italian hostage have been killed during a failed rescue attempt in Nigeria. The hostages are believed to have been killed by their captors when British and Nigerian military forces tried their rescue.

N111b 2019, 2022 bonds raised

The Federal Government raised N111 billion ($703.73 million) at a bond auction on Wednesday, its second this year, with yields on the 2019 bonds marginally higher than at its previous auction, while yields fell on its 2012 bonds, the Debt Management Office (DMO) said yesterday.
